I am implementing the new GUI system and it is working very nicely. It is very powerful and simple. Take a look at these screenshots I captured today. Let me know what you think in the comments.
Development unpaused.
Due to some security concerns and my desire to work on this game I have left the other project I mentioned and am now working on RiftGate primarily again.
Development on pause.
I have put this project on pause due to School and I have become the Tech Director for another project. Rest assured though I am not abandoning this project in any way. Infact this should give me access to more advanced libraries like CryTek and maybe some other industry standard GUI Lib. Point is I have not and will not forget about all of you.
Progress update July 11, 2011
In this test I fired 1861 bullets before I got really board, as a form of stress test to see if there would be any problems. The game performed great when I did so. Note that no bullet I fired was deleted after firing as far as memory for tracking the bullets is concerned. This is a worst case scenario normally I would delete bullets and use spots in the array that are freed up for the new bullets.

I have been working on the physics involved with suns. Currently there is no assistance when trying to slingshot or orbit 100% skill. I would like to know what everyone thinks about it. I am however thinking there should be a component or program you can load into your ships computer that will allow you to have the computer put you into orbit or help you orbit when you press a key or button. Please give me feadback on this.
p.s. The sun image is currently a placeholder I am working on a new effect for the sun.
Progress update July 03, 2011
I have been working on getting a little more graphics working (particles) and have had some troubles with my rendering engine Ogre3D and my physics library but I have resolved the problems now and understand the engine and library much better now and should not make the same mistake again. I am proud to present these 2 screenshots and video directly from the game client!
P.s. The game now has physics. (see video)
F.A.Q. Update June 26, 2011
We have changed the F.A.Q. section of this site to address the name change from Spatial Rift to Rift Gate. We hope this helps with any confusion there may be.
Sorry for the wait…
Sorry I have not posted any updates lately. I have been working on our new linux server that will be used as the test bed for the upcoming RiftGate alpha testing.
As far as the game's progress goes I have been working on implementing physics into the game. Once I have the physics engine running then it should not be much longer before I have a playable alpha.
New name, New site!
Spatial Rift is no longer the projects name for a lot of reasons. The game is now named Rift Gate which I feel is a good name for the game and the .com was available so it was perfect. I would like to know how the community feels about this new name and site. I will be moving the Spatial Rift Section of forum.ubersoftech.com to forum.riftgate.com when I have the time (and feel upto it.)
P.S. To my girlfriend Rae I am sorry I am up so late! I hope your not to mad at me.
